Hey girls….. if a friend tells you she wants to commit suicide, here’s what you must know and do.

  • Take it seriously. You have a higher obligation to save a life, than to keep a secret, even if you promised.
  • Tell an adult. A parent, teacher, youth worker, pastor, counselor or principal will know what to do next.
  • Talk openly with her. Ask her directly, “Are you going to kill yourself?”
  • Call emergency (911) if you need immediate assistance.

Remember, if you keep a secret your friend might be in great danger. The fact that your friend told you “in secret” could be her way of reaching out for help. Even if you tell and your friend dumps you, you did the right thing.

    I really wanted to let you know that your advice to "Sweet Child of God" was absolutely wonderful. As a young teen I struggled a lot with depression (and still do), and I want you to know that your advice is perfect. And all your advice to the other girls has been great, too!

    You're doing a wonderful ministry here, Sam, and for that I really thank you from the bottom of my heart.
