Since when is swearing cool?

Sam: I have a friend who is a Christian and everyone in my class knows this. Yet I hear her swearing and saying other stuff she shouldn't be talking about. It bugs me. I haven't told her this cause I don't know how to tell her. What should I do ?

Hey Cassie!: I'm guessing one of two things is going on. Either your friend very frustrated causing her to swear or she is trying to fit into a crowd that thinks swearing is cool. Either way swearing isn't going to fix the anything.

If you think she is frustrated, ask her why? Try to put the problem into perspective. Being able to talk and get help may stop the frustration and the swearing. If you think she's trying to be cool, ask her why such a great person who has Jesus in her heart needs to swear. Be sincere with your compliment. She needs to be built up for who she is. Be sure to include her with your friends so she doesn't have to fit in somewhere else.

Remember the real problem isn't swearing. It's what's going on inside her heart that is coming out of her mouth!
