I feel so guilty

Hi Sam: I wrote my name loves the guy I likes' name on the bathroom wall when at a conference. I feel reely bad I can't believe what I did. I feel so guilty. I asked God to forgive me but I still feel guilty what should I do?

Hi embarrassed: There are two types of guilt. True guilt is when you truly did something wrong. It keeps bugging you until you make it right (even if you did ask God to forgive you). False guilt is when you feel guilty about something that happened that you didn't do or had no control over.

Unfortunately, vandalizing someone's property is true guilt and you will continue to feel bad until you make it right. Call the conference organizers and tell them what you did and that you are sorry for it. Accept the consequences bravely (if there are any). Once you have done your part, the guilt will leave.

Doing what's right is not always easy, but it sure helps you sleep at night.
