I don't like eating anymore

Dear Sam: My friends and family are worried about me losing weight. I’m 5’8” and weigh 120 lbs. I’ve lost 10 lbs since school started because I thought I was fat. I don’t like eating much anymore, I’ve been skipping meals. I feel sick after I eat. I don’t want to become anorexic and end up in the hospital. Do I have a problem?

Mel

Dear Mel: Be honest with yourself. Why do you not want to eat? Do you feel bad about yourself, or feel you’ve lost control of your situation? Not eating cannot make you feel better about yourself or put you in control.

The truth is God made you perfectly, the way you are. He loves you and wants the best for your life. I think your family and friends do too. That’s why they are worried. Talk to them. God is also perfecting the things that concern you. Even though things may seem out of your control, if you turn your worries over to God, He is able to make all things perfect in His time.

Be careful. Eating problems can sneak up on you and quickly take over.
