Forced

Dear Sam:
Is it my fault that an adult forced me to have sex? Should I talk about it?

Hey girls….. this is a very important question.

The answer is to the first question is ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Being forced into sex, regardless of how you got into that position is never your fault. Sex is a personal right for everyone. Feeling that somehow the unwanted behaviour is your fault, often happens. It’s important for you to get trusted counsel about the situation. It will help you overcome the guilt now and help you over come potential future problems that could result from the unwanted experience.

The answer to the second question is ABSOLUTELY YES!!!! If ever an adult or anyone for that matter forces you to have sex or engage in any behaviour that seems inappropriate, find someone to talk to as soon as possible. You could call the police, a teacher, a parent or a pastor.

Sexual exploitation is the term used when someone uses a position of power (like an employer, parent, teacher, someone much older) to gain personal sexual gratification. They are taking advantage of someone in a vulnerable position. It is illegal.

Please tell someone.
Sam
