Caught Up with Time

Racing to the finish line, Lainy seemed to those watching like she had finally gotten it all. Beautiful, smart, and now she’d beaten the track records of the school . . . again. Just a second more, and Lainy knew all her dreams would come true. The leap . . . the final pull for breath and she was across. SHE! She had done it! She thought she would feel powerful forever, and that tomorrow at school she’d still get the rush she felt now. Somehow the whole world would be different.

But, the next morning at 5 AM she still had to get up and meet the coach, and even worse, at the next track meet everyone expected her to do even better. Soon she was up at 4:30 AM to practice. She felt like she was fading, and the thought of slipping back in front of the crowd tormented her. She only wanted to win, so what was the something she couldn’t seem to grab that was always just that leap away, and once she jumped . . .it was still in front of her? All this waiting and pushing and driving to become . . . it makes you die inside. That’s because we weren’t meant to live only for ourselves, or even for the crowd . . . but to grab onto the One who made us to live for Him . . . God.

There was this guy in the Bible named Jacob. His whole life was spent working hard and even tricking others for the perfect wife and for more and more stuff. But Jacob doesn’t get happy ‘till the night God shows up and has a fight with him. It happened when Jacob wanders off from everything he owns . . . just walks away . . . and falls asleep alone, with a rock for a pillow. That’s where the Bible describes it as though Jacob gets dusty with God, or floats away on a cloud with God. Anyway, when Jacob gets real with God, he figures out he can’t fix his life all by himself. He gets to the place where he’s not afraid to look dumb or stupid in front of God. In fact he stops wrestling and gives everything up to grab onto God! No more tricking and fighting to get the perfect life!

And, you know what God does . . . He calls Jacob . . . a Prince! Jacob found a place with God and that place gave him the peace just to live in front of God . . . just God. That’s when God told Jacob who he really was created to become . . . a Prince . . . son of the King!

What d’ ya learn from this eh?

That – - – - I want to play my life to one Audience . . . God! Everything else fades. It’s His relationship with me that’s real and lasting, and makes me into His Princess!

The Bible says – that a girl who seeks an awesome relationship with God, is way cool.
